What did children who moved around the west with their families, from Missouri to Kansas to California to Arizona, do as they grew up? Chino Valley’s early pioneer family, that of David and Sarah Shivers, bought their ranch near Del Rio Springs on April 2, 1867. They had arrived in the Prescott area on 1864 and their last child, a son John T., was born here in 1866.

Come and learn about the lives of these children as they married, had children and moved around Arizona. Some remained in ranching, others in mercantile businesses, some were connected to Arizona’s famous Goldwater family.

This presentation will be given at the monthly meeting of the Chino Valley Historical Society on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 7 pm. at the Chino Valley Senior Center located at Road 1 West and Butterfield Road.
