Bump it!
Two water-related work sessions are slated in the greater Prescott area today . Members of the Central Yavapai Highlands Water Resource Management Study Technical Working Group plan to meet at 10:30 a.m. in the supervisors' board room at the Yavapai Country Administrative Services Building, 1015 Fair St., Prescott. And Chino Valley Water Resources Manager Mark Holmes will return to discuss Paulden and Chino Valley water resources, treatment, conservation, contamination prevention and recharge issues with members of the Paulden Area Community Organization at the Paulden Community Center, 24050 Marblehead Ave., one block west of State Route 89, in Paulden. U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) Water Resources Planner Leslie Meyers plans to give an update on the progress of the Central Yavapai Highlands Water Resources Management Study from 10 a.m. to noon at the Oct. 10 meeting of the Citizens Water Advocacy Group at the Granite Peak Unitarian Universalist Congregation, at 882 Sunset St., Prescott (two blocks behind True Value). CWAG members say they consider this to be a very important regional planning and management study that will assemble the knowledge about water resources, demands, and alternatives for meeting long-term needs into one document. Other scheduled events include: Wednesday, October 14, 2009 2:30 p.m. - Safe Yield Work Group meeting at the Yavapai County Administration Building. (Agendas for both meetings will be available a few days before the meeting at: www.uvrwpc.org) 4:00 p.m. - Yavapai County Supervisor Carol Springer invites all interested citizens to celebrate the completion of the Pioneer Park Stormwater Management Project (also includes celebration of the park's Inline Hockey Projects and a tribute to former Supervisor Gheral Brownlow) at Pioneer Park, in Prescott. Members of the countywide Project WET are looking for some more volunteer activity presenters (and other volunteers) to help with this year's Verde Valley Water Festival for fourth-grade students Oct. 14 or 15 (two-hour training for presenters) at the Yavapai County Roads Department, 4000 W Cherry Rd. in Camp Verde for the Oct. 22 festival at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood. "No teaching or water-related experience is necessary but it’s important that presenters feel comfortable presenting their assigned activity to 4th graders," says Project Wet Coordinator Crystal Frost. For complete details about activity options, etc., Frost at www.azwater.gov/conservation or call 778-7202.
