Prescott, AZ: Rodeo! The word itself is exciting – it starts the adrenalin flowing through each cowboy, cowgirl, and spectator. It has been said that rodeo is a window into the past, with its fascinating and rich history combined with the modern sport of today’s rodeo and is the only professional sport that originated from an industry…the cattle raising industry.
This summer, the World’s Oldest Rodeo® will be celebrating its 124th birthday (June 28-July 4) in Prescott, the original Territorial Capital of Arizona, and explodes with old western hospitality and charm during Prescott Frontier Days® week! With 8 thrilling performances, the World’s Oldest Rodeo® has captivated thousands of spectators and is Prescott’s most anticipated event of the year. This little western town (known to many as the “Cowboy Capital of the American West”) is rich in history with a cowboy culture many have come to love.
Without giving away the show, we can tell you it's about top professional athletes competing for big dollars. It's about broncs throwing their hooves high in the air, bulls that are mad at the world, and leather straps holding cowboys together.
The rodeo draws crowds throughout the week with other rodeo festivities that include Arizona’s largest rodeo parade and Kiddie parade, a fine Arts and Crafts show in downtown Prescott, a rodeo and street Dance as well as a spectacular 4th of July celebration with fireworks.
While planning your trip to attend the World’s Oldest Rodeo®, suggested hotel accommodations include Marriott Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, Hotel St Michael, and the Hassayampa Inn, to name a few. Downtown Prescott, especially during Prescott Frontier
