ribboncuttingThe Chino Valley Fire District now has plenty of room where they can get their work done, park their fire engines and put away various other equipment needed in their line of duty, thanks to a new Administration Building and Apparatus Bay.

It was a day of celebration on Saturday during the ribbon cutting for the new facilities out at 1133 West Road 3 North in Chino Valley, culminating a project that has been planned for since 2006. That was when the voters within the Chino Valley Fire District voted to authorize the sale of up to $10,000,000 in bonds.

Fire Chief John Ginn explains what these new facilities mean to the District:

The Chino Valley Fire District is funded through property taxes is a completely separate entity from the Town of Chino Valley, but that didn't stop Mayor Jim Bunker from joining in the celebration. He explained the importance of this project to the residents served by this District:

Fireman Dan Nagy is pleased that the facilities have been completed:

After the voter approval in 2006, the sale of bonds occurred in April, 2007 for the amount of $5,325,000, and the planning began.

Since that time, over $5,083,000 has been spent in the following manner:

Station 62 Land Purchase: $360,790.20

Station 62 Building: $1,548,265.91

Administration Building: $846,529.07

Apparatus Building: $685,529.07

Bond Issue Cost: $38,000

Engine Purchase: $349,505.07

Lease Purchase Payoff: $694,756.99

2 Water Tenders: $558,287.31

What about the remaining balance? After bonds are sold, it is required by the bond agreement that at least 85% of the money must be spent within three years. The money that remains after this project will be used in other areas of the Chino Fire District. So, what's the interest rate being paid on the bonds? At this time it's 4%.
