mailboxfieldOn December 5th, 2009, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to several reports of mailbox vandalism in Paulden. A majority of mailboxes are located on Feather Mountain Road and surrounding streets including Big Chino Road, Annie Road, Big Sky Road and Antelope Road. A short time later, deputies investigated additional mailbox vandalism in a neighborhood adjacent to Old Highway 89 in Paulden. Street locations include Quen Sabe Lane, Short Drive and Kiawa Lane.

Deputies believe unknown suspects used a bat or similar object to strike and damage the mailboxes. Additionally, many were found with the doors open but there were no reports of mail theft. It is likely the crimes occurred during the late evening to early morning hours.

A suspicious vehicle seen in the area the prior day is described only as a purple and black Mazda which contained several males. It appeared the occupants were checking some of the same mailboxes later found vandalized.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects in these vandalisms is urged to call the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260. Callers may also report the information anonymously to Yavapai Silent Witness at 1800-932-3232. A new cell phone texting notification is also available for Silent Witness by texting the word “Busted,” then the tip, to 411247.

Citizens can contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office with information or questions at

(928) 771-3260 or the YCSO website: www.ycsoaz.gov
