Bump it!
Currently the hall is filling with the thousands of attendees from over 90 countries. The US Energy Department has announced new funding that will be available soon for solar related projects. Charlie Hemmeline the Director of Solar Technology with the US Energy Department spoke on the importance of Market Collaboration and to discuss the new mapping and technology that is being used to designate and design solar projects. The conference has featured guest speakers such as U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, Ed Begley Jr. and Robert F Kennedy Jr. Today we will focus on the Exhibitor Hall; some of the new technology is stunning as new products are being shown here for the first time. As the show continues the Arizona Contingent is working together to bring new opportunities and products to the Arizona market. Last Night culminated with a Solar Power International (SPI) party at Disney Land. Over 15,000 attendees descended on Disney Land for what proved to be the most exciting Private Party & Networking event that I have ever been to. The excitement will undoubtedly continue, stay tuned as we provide updates to you.

APS CEO Don Brandt was interviewed at Solar Power 2009 and he had some very interesting things to say. With the expected growth in Arizona by 2025 APS will have an additional 600,000 customers, in addition to the 1.1 million customers that they service now, and APS is planing on installing 1,500 megawatts of new generation to service this growth. Of the 1,500 megawatts of new power that will be required to meet that demand Mr. Brandt said that he expects that the vast majority will come from solar power. Since solar power produces more jobs than any other type of energy we are going to see a huge growth of new jobs in the solar industry. How exciting for Arizona and how exciting for those of us who live in this area of the state because we have one of the highest levels of solar irradiation in the country! We will get more power production from the solar panels on our roofs than from just about anywhere else in the country.

With nearly 1000 exhibitors the Solar Expo has taken over the convention center here in Anaheim. After a brisk 15 minute walk we finally reached the far corner of the hall have begun visiting the exhibitor booths. Some bad news due to the proprietary nature of the show, pictures will be very limited from within the hall.
