The Prescott, Arizona campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is proud to host their 3rd Annual Veterans’ Appreciation Concert in honor of all veterans and their families on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 6:30 pm at the campus Activity Center. The 108th Army Band, Arizona National Guard based in Phoenix and the Prescott Fine Arts Singers will lead the evening of patriotic music and veteran acknowledgements.
This is the 3rd annual concert honoring veterans and the many sacrifices they have made for our freedom.Embry-Riddle is proud to support our veterans and recognize our servicemen and women, our veterans, our ROTC students, and Embry-Riddle Alumni who have served our great nation.This is a day for everyone to unite and shake the hands of freedom.
The membership of the 108th Army Band is comprised of citizen soldiers. These individuals include educators, business men and women, mechanics, government employees, students, and many others.The Band's primary responsibility is to promote morale and provide music for the troops.The musicians of the 108th Army Band have been brought together by their love of music and their desire to serve their country. The band performs a mixture of the traditional and contemporary music including a rousing military march, folk tunes, and modern rock and roll.
“The Veterans’ Appreciation Concert is our way of saying thank you, remember the sacrifice, and honor all that have served and currently serve,” said Dr. Frank Ayers, Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer for the Prescott campus.
The concert kicks off a number of activities scheduled on the Embry-Riddle campus to honor Veterans.The concert on Tuesday night includes a special presentation by WWII Veteran, Mr. Lou Roffman. The presentation titled: “Pearl Harbor, Midway and War in the South Pacific:An Eyewitness Account” reminds the nation that freedom isn’t free.The full presentation will take place on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the DLC Auditorium.
Embry-Riddle will also host the annual Veterans Administration Parade and pre-parade concert by the John Hafer’s Octet.The concert starts at 10:00 a.m. and the parade starts at 11:00 am on Friday, November 11, 2011.
