Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2011 Presented by Credit Union West
Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters will officially launch Bowl for Kids Sake 2011 – Yavapai County’s Largest Campaign for Kids – on Saturday February 26. Board Members, Bigs & Littles, Major Sponsors and Media will roll out the first bowling balls of the season at noon at Antelope Lanes in Prescott Valley. Bowl for Kids’ Sake 2011 is presented by Credit Union West. The event will continue with Bowling taking place February 27, March 5, 6, 26 & 27 at Plaza Bowl and Antelope Lanes.
According to Kathleen Murphy, YBBBS President & CEO, “Bowl for Kids’ Sake isn’t about bowling at all. It’s about having fun and helping kids. The event underwrites the cost of over one-third of the agency’s Big/Little matches and is the organization’s single largest source of new Big Brothers, Big Sisters and families.” Big Brothers Big Sisters recruits Team Captains from companies, civic clubs, and the general public. These captains recruit team members, all of whom agree to get at least $125 in pledges. In return they are invited to the biggest party in town to enjoy free bowling, free pizza, free drinks and prizes.
Murphy continued by saying, “This year, we are excited to have leaders from our area’s major employers all getting behind the event. This support for our communities’ most vulnerable children is amazing and it comes at a critical time. During the past two years, there has been an unprecedented demand for our services. There are hundreds of children in every community and school throughout Yavapai County who are not yet matched with a “Big” and are on our waiting list. Thanks to the participants of this event, we have the opportunity to match these waiting kids.”
