Arizona Named the Most Pro-Life State in the Nation

20 January 2018
On Friday, President Trump proclaimed Monday, January 22 as the National Sanctity of Human Life Day.

This year marked the 45th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C.

"Today I’m honored, and really proud, to be the first president to stand with you here at the White House to address the 45th March for Life. That’s very, very special," said President Trump.

Arizona was named the Most Pro-Life State in the nation by Americans United for Life (AUL) on its annual Life List. In 2017, AUL ranked Arizona 5th as the most protective state. This is the first time that Arizona has achieved the #1 ranking.

States are chosen based on a "...comprehensive analysis of each state’s legal protections for human life from conception to natural death." In other words, Arizona offers the most legal protections for women and their children.

According to the Center for Arizona Policy, in their press release celebrating the new designation, "This designation only happens because Arizona citizens elect policymakers who stand for the lives of preborn children and their mothers. On behalf of those citizens, we especially thank those pro-life legislators, former Governor Jan Brewer and current Governor Doug Ducey for keeping their commitments and enacting over 37 pro-life measures since 2009, making Arizona the most pro-life state in the country."

Arizona was followed by Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Kansas.
