Representative Heather Carter to Hold Press Conference Regarding Proclamation Making March 20 'Living Kidney Donors Day’

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX – Representative Heather Carter (R-15) will introduce HCR 2019 this Monday, which will proclaim March 20 as 'Living Kidney Donors Day.' This is in an effort to increase awareness of living kidney donation and to honor those who have made life-saving donations. Risa Simon - Founder and CEO of Transplant First Academy, representatives from the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona, as well as other living donors will join Representative Carter.

“Arizona is home to over 2,000 who are desperately in need of a kidney, many of whom will pass away without receiving one.” said Representative Carter. “It is heartbreaking to see end-stage kidney disease patients nationwide wait in line for 3-5 years to receive transplants. By building awareness around this growing issue and making the organ donation options more clear to the public, we will save lives.”

As of this year, more than 139,000 living kidney donors have come forward nationwide, and 2,900 in Arizona, saving an equal number of lives.
