On February 10, 2012 at approximately 8:25 A.M. a Prescott Valley Police Officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Spring Drive and Spouse Drive for a speed violation. During the stop, the officer smelled what appeared to be the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.
The vehicle was occupied by the driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male, and three other occupants (20-year-old Rodney Christopher Jones of Paulden, a 16-year-old female and a 16-year-old male).
During the stop a vehicle pulled up and two occupants became disorderly yelling at the officers about the stop. They refused to calm down and the driver of the second vehicle, a 27-year-old male from Prescott Valley, was arrested for disorderly conduct and driving on a suspended license.
When officers continued with the original investigation they discovered two baggies of marijuana on Rodney Jones. During a subsequent search of the vehicle officers found a large marijuana plant covered by a plastic bag. The plant was reportedly found on the floorboard of the vehicle where Jones was seated.
Officers learned from interviews with the juveniles in the vehicle, that they had smoked marijuana the night before with Jones. Jones was reportedly “babysitting” two of the juveniles.
Jones made minimal statements about his involvement in the offense.
Jones was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail for possession of marijuana (F), production of marijuana (F) and (3) counts of involving a minor in a drug offense (F)
The 27-year-old suspect, listed earlier, was booked for driving on a suspended driver’s license (M) and disorderly conduct (M)
