The Superior Court announces the selection of Calvin Rolf Eckel as Court Administrator for the vacancy created by the resignation of Deborah M. Schaefer on July 13, 2012.
Mr. Eckel has been appointed as Court Administrator, effective August 27, 2012. There were seven applicants for this position.
Mr. Eckel is a Prescott native with deep roots in Yavapai County. He grew up in Prescott and is a fourth generation Yavapai County, Arizona native. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona and his Master of Business Administration Degree from Northern Arizona University.
Mr. Eckel’s professional experience includes serving as the Assistant Manager of Student Business Services and then as Director of Student Business Services/University Bursar at Northern Arizona University from November 1995 to February 2007. In March 2007, Mr. Eckel was hired by Justice of the Peace Arthur Markham to serve as the Court Administrator for the Prescott Justice/Prescott City Consolidated Courts. He has served the Consolidated Courts extremely well over the past five and a half years.
During his service with the Prescott Justice/Prescott City Consolidated Courts, he has overseen growth in that Court as well as lean budget years. He has managed that Court’s transition to a paperless electronic citation system now on line with the City of Prescott Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
While managing those changes, he has found time to pursue career development opportunities. He is now a Certified Court Manager through the National Center for State Courts and the Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts. He is nearing the completion of his Court Executive certification through the National Center for State Courts.
Presiding Judge David L. Mackey selected Mr. Eckel after interviewing qualified candidates with Chief Adult Probation Officer Billie Grobe and Director of Juvenile Court Services Scott Mabery. When announcing his decision, Judge Mackey stated: “I am pleased that we were able to find within Yavapai County a candidate the caliber of Rolf Eckel. He is highly qualified and familiar with the issues facing the Courts in Yavapai County. Rolf can hit the ground running and assist the Courts as we continue to endeavor to provide quality judicial services to the citizens of Yavapai County in a fiscally responsible manner. We are happy to welcome Rolf Eckel as a member of our team.”
