The 12-year-old pedestrian apparently crossed against the traffic light.

On October 9th, 2012 at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers from the Chino Valley Police Department were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident at the intersection of State Route and Road 2 South.

Upon arrival, officers located a child lying in the middle of the north bound lanes of SR 89.  Chino Valley Fire Department medics worked on the child to stabilize him prior to him being airlifted to the Phoenix Children's Hospital in Phoenix where he is listed in stable condition.

The police department has determined that the 12 year old Chino Valley boy was crossing the intersection diagonally on a kick scooter against the traffic light when he was struck by a north bound 2012 Dodge 4dsw driven by Renelda Lord, 71, of Prescott.    Witnesses confirmed that Lord had the green light and was travelling at a speed of approximately 45 miles per hour.  No citations have been issued.
