Prescott Valley Police responded to the report of shots fired in an apartment on Robert Road at approximately 2:47 PM. Upon investigation, they discovered two victims that were dead, a mother and an adult son.

A male subject has been detained for investigative purposes, and is being interviewed.

The investigation is in the early stages, but it is being treated as a homicide. A murder-suicide has been ruled out at this time.

Identification is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.

According to Officer Dunn, at least 8 investigators are working on the case.

Robert Road has been narrowed to one lane, probably throughout the evening.
