Information on Burglary sought.

Some residential burglary suspects are being sought. On Monday night at 5:30, a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the 2400 block of Hecla Street in Dewey-Humboldt regarding a home burglary. The victim indicated he left home mid-morning on Saturday and returned at around 5 Monday night. The initial investigation shows unknown suspects entered the home by force through a living room window with assistance from a ladder found on the property. Some of the items that were stolen include 35 and 46 inch HD TV’s, a stereo system, a jewelry box with rings and other items, a TV audio sound bar, a Sony Playstation 3 game system, a car stereo and digital camcorder. The estimated loss is $3900. A neighbor reported seeing a white 1990’s, possible 4 door mid-sized or compact vehicle parked in front of the home Saturday afternoon, but since that person was unaware the victim was out of town, they didn’t think the vehicle was suspicious. Anyone who has information on this burglary is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 771-3260 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 1-800-932-3232.

Cottonwood Police are requesting animal cruelty charges against Mark Arneson. On December 30th, an adult male pit bull known as “Buddy” was found on an off-road ATV trail on Old Highway 279. A passerby found “Buddy” motionless and realized the dog was injured from 2 gunshot wounds to the head. “Buddy” was taken to the vet but he didn’t survive his injuries. Tips to the police revealed the dog’s owner was Arneson, who reportedly had become unusually aggressive towards other pets and children at his South Cliff View Drive home. “Buddy” was believed to be going to a new home in Phoenix on the day he was found shot. The Red Rose Inspiration for Animals Foundation, a Sedona based animal rescue organization played an integral part in the investigation.
