Those who lost their lives in the tragic attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon 11 years ago today will be honored in Prescott Valley. The Town is hosting a ceremony at 6 tonight that will include patriotic tributes and musical acts on the stage area in front of the Civic Center.  A new addition is the Prescott Valley Healing Field of Northern Arizona.   Councilwoman Mary Mallory explains 11  American flags are planted on the grounds of the Center on Civic Circle.

Mallory adds even though this Field is in Prescott Valley, the Town is reaching out to all communities to visit.

Opera singer Kelly Gebhart Taylor will direct the Community Choir at the ceremony in addition to performing the Star Spangled Banner.  If you plan on attending, you’re asked to bring your own lawn chair to this outdoor event.  

If you get a phone call saying you may already be a winner, you may actually be the victim of a scam.  Cottonwood Police have responded to 2 incidents where residents indicated they were contacted by people claiming to be with the Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes Company.  The caller offers a prize of 850 thousand dollars along with a brand new Mercedes Benz.  Police Sergeant Gareth Braxton explains how the scam works. Braxton explains what consumers are instructed to do once the cards are purchased.

Braxton adds if you receive a call or e-mail from Publishers Clearing House stating you have won a prize and you need to send money, don’t do it! 

Like Prescott Valley, the Town of Chino Valley will be putting Yavapai County Flood Control District funding to good use.  In January, Chino Valley submitted 5 flood control projects to the District for funding. 

In July, the Town was notified the County will fund flood control projects over the next 3 years.  During its voting session at 6 tonight, Town Council will consider an intergovernmental agreement with the District for construction of Road 3 North at Town Hall.  This more than 268 thousand dollar project will be designed and constructed this fiscal year.  The Town of Prescott Valley has received 500 thousand dollars in funding it is using for the 3rd and final phase of the Western Boulevard Storm Water Management Project and an Agua Fria River Flood Plain Revision Study.  The Chino Valley Council meeting will be held in Town Hall on North Highway 89. 

The search is on for a Chino Valley woman who has been missing for 1 week now. Thirty seven year old Jaime Andrews was last seen driving a green 2007 Honda Sedan.  Her husband thought she was going to her father’s ranch in La Paz County, but never showed up.  Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn says a rancher had spoken to Andrews early last Tuesday morning. D’evelyn explains Andrews’ car has been located.

Andrews is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, 175 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.  She may have a cell phone with her, but attempts to track it have been unsuccessful.  Her husband is concerned for her safety since she has had some mental health issues recently. 

It’s policy review time again in the Humboldt and Prescott Unified School Districts.  Board members will be taking a look at policies that cover such issues as bidding and purchasing procedures, staff duties and responsibilities, drug and alcohol use by students and medical marijuana standards and conditions for employees.  Both boards will also be discussing revisions to a policy related to the evaluation of staff members.  The Prescott School Board meets at 5:30 in the District Office Board Room on South Granite Street.  The Humboldt Board meeting starts at 6:30 at Granville Elementary School on Stover Drive in Prescott Valley.  These meetings are open to the public.
