Four Prescott residents headed to Germany Tuesday. Councilman Chris Kuknyo, Arizona Sister Cities President Bob Greninger, Vice President of Ponderosa Hotel Management Margo Christiansen and Berlin native Al Hoeger would meet with German officials to try and establish a Sister City relationship.

Prescott’s General Plan Committee hit the road Wednesday afternoon. The Committee visited Constellation Trail and the Granite Gardens Hazelwood parcel, both of which are in the Granite Dells area; the 18 acre Community Nature Center on Williamson Valley Road and the new Centennial Trail off Iron Springs Road.

The Prescott Valley Town Council approved a more than $873,000 contract with the Capital Improvements company. The company will be constructing 5 basins and distribution pipelines in Phase 1 of a project intended to capture more effluent, or treated sewage that can be recharged into the aquifer.

Former Congressman, Senator and Prescott Mayor Sam Steiger died. Steiger served in the State Senate from 1960 to 1964 and as Representative of Arizona’s 3rd District from 1966 to 1977. He served 1 term as Mayor from 1999 to 2001.

A closure was in effect at the Prescott Valley Civic Center on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Parks and Recreation Department’s office was closed as it was moved from the 4th floor of the Center to the 1st floor. It reopened on Thursday.

The Prescott City Council rejected a professional services agreement with National Golf Foundation Consulting Tuesday. Council raised concerns over the 18 thousand dollar cost for an analysis of the golf course, but agreed that a Request for Proposals process for private management of the Manzanita Grille restaurant would be moving forward.

A Chino Valley man was arrested for 1st degree murder after he allegedly shot and killed his roommate Wednesday night. 47 year old James Brooks was found dead at a West Road 1 South residence following an altercation with 51 year old Dale Gibson.

And the Yavapai Fair opened at Tim’s Toyota Center for the 2nd straight year. Exhibits were shown from noon to 9 Thursday and 9 to 9 Friday. The carnival ran from 4 to 10 Thursday and noon to 10 Friday and there were also musical performances both nights. The theme of this year's Fair is "Happy 100th Birthday, Arizona!"
