The event, held September 7 at Del Rio School, is one of the biggest fundraisers for local FFA students, allowing students to travel for the program and also further their AG education.
“It’s been going great, busy, busy, busy,” said Casey Farnsworth, FFA advisor at Chino Valley High School. “Events like this help us pay for our conventions, travel, some scholarships, and competitions. One of the big trips that we’re trying to raise money for is the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky in October. That’s going to cost a pretty penny.”
The organization holds several events throughout the year including the 4th Annual Dutch Oven Cook Off on September 28. Contestants will begin setting up at the Cooper Ag Center, 455 W Center Street, at 7 a.m. with judging taking place at 3 p.m. Public food sampling will begin at 4 p.m.
The CV FFA will also be selling Cooper Ag Center raised Heritage turkeys this fall, just in time for Thanksgiving dinner.
