KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the seventh annual Team Academic Excellence Awards, created by the NABC Committee on Academics. These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2018-19 season.
And for the fourth consecutive year, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) men's basketball has been recognized as one of the top academic programs in the country. ERAU posted one of the highest cumulative grade point averages across all divisions of college basketball with a 3.54. Not only did the Eagles get it done in the classroom but they also were minutes away from punching their ticket to NAIA National Tournament. The future is bright in Prescott!
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2018-19 season.
