Westmont comes away with the victory.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – It was a tough start for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) men's soccer as they gave up two first half goals to Westmont College in a tough match where the Eagles lost 2-1.

It was ERAU (0-1-1) who came out of the gates firing as Mason Laaksonen (SR/Austin, Texas)made the (RV) Warriors (3-0-0) keeper work in the first minute after firing a shot on target. Westmont stepped on the pedal immediately following that scoring in the first ten minutes and put the Eagles on their heels. Not more than 11 minutes later the Warriors found the back of the net again. WC had the Eagles right where they wanted them at the halftime break, leading 2-0.

The score line was quite deceiving as the Eagles finished the match with nine shots to the Warriors 12. Half number two was different as the Eagles started their onslaught on the Warrior defense. Ethan Carlson (SO/Edgewood, Wash.) was the recipient of a good ball in off a free kick by Sebastian Aguas (SR/Quito, Ecuador) who netted the Eagles lone goal of the match. ERAU managed two other shots after that moment but could not get anything to beat the keeper and it ended 2-1.

ERAU will head to Eastern Oregon next week to play their next match at 4:00 pm MST on August 30.
