GILBERT, Ariz. – Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) volleyball has taken control of Arizona after their third straight win in 2019 over their fellow competition that calls this their home. ERAU (6-5) beat Park University at Gilbert in straight sets, 25-14, 25-10, and 25-15.
The Eagles were simply too much for the Buccaneers (6-7) who are entering their first season in the NAIA. ERAU came out swinging and it showed in their .552 hitting percentage on 18 kills. Elisa Pauzer (JR/Campinas, Brazil) played well in the first set killing five.
ERAU was even more dominant in the second despite only attacking at a .111 clip and killing seven. The major difference in the set was the nine errors committed by the Buccaneers. ERAU went on a 14-1 run in the set to really separate.
In the final set the Eagles attacked better coming in with a .279 percentage. They also killed 15 in the set led by Caylee Robalin (JR/El Paso, Texas) and Sharik Joseph (JR/San Diego, Calif.) who both had four. ERAU held Park to only five kills in the set.
Clark led the match with 11 kills. Audrey Baldwin (SR/Santa Barbara, Calif.) set the table with 37 assists, which ups her 30+ assist streak to eight. Pauzer was the only other Eagle to reach double-digits in kills.
ERAU will be off the rest of the week, they get back into action next Wednesday (Sept. 11) against Arizona Christian in Phoenix.
