A rolling baritone, anthems to small-town America, and a talented young star on the rise – Prescott audiences will be treated to all three this month, when Yavapai College Performing Arts Center welcomes country music sensation Scotty McCreery, Thursday night, October 26, at 7:30 p.m.

With a teenager’s face and a voice reminiscent of Randy Travis, McCreery burst onto the national music scene back in 2011. After winning season ten of American Idol, the laid-back, North Carolina singer/songwriter sought to establish himself as a standalone country music artist. At 24, McCreery has done just that: writing and performing multiple hits, collecting ACM, BMI and CMT awards and becoming the first country music artist in history to debut an album atop Billboard magazine’s Top 200 chart.

McCreery’s first album, Clear as Day, went platinum in just thirteen weeks on the strength of hits “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble with Girls.” It won McCreery the Academy of Country Music’s 2011 New Artist of the Year Award, and the video for “The Trouble with Girls” collected CMT Music’s Breakthrough Video of the Year in 2012.

See You Tonight, McCreery’s second album, was released in 2013 and the title track ultimately won him a BMI writing award for composing “one of the Top 50 Country Music Songs of 2015.” “See You Tonight” became McCreery’s first Top Ten hit, followed the next year by “Feelin’ It.” In 2016, the 23-year-old McCreery released his first book, Go Big or Go Home: The Journey Toward the Dream, and performed his latest hit song, “Five More Minutes,” at the Grand Old Opry.

Tickets for Scotty McCreery start at $39. For reservations or more information, please contact the YCPAC Box Office, 1100 E. Sheldon Street, Prescott, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or call (928) 776.2000 (or 877-928-4253 toll free) or visit www.ycpac.com.
