Chino Valley Heads to Kingman

12 October 2019
Bradshaw vs Badgers, Chino Valley visits Kingman

Chino Valley Cougars (0-1), (2-5) at Kingman Bulldogs (3-3), Kingman High School, 7pm

The Cougars come into this one after suffering a one point loss 27-26, at Kingman Academy, while Kingman lost at home 49-14 to River Valley.

Last year: Chino Valley 53, Kingman 8, at Chino Valley

The Bulldogs like to run the ball, and have only thrown 23 passes in 6 games. A pair of seniors, Austin Dias (661 yards, 10, touchdowns) and Gavin Randall (544 yards and 6 TDs) account for the bulk of the offense. Dias leads the defense in tackles.

Chino Valley looks to get back in the win column after suffering three straight loses. Trevor Gianfrancesco leads the Cougars in rushing.

The Skinny: The Cougars dominated last years contest, and are hungry to get a “W”, after a one point setback last week.

A temperature of 60* with clear skies are what to expect at kickoff.

Bradshaw Mountain Bears (1-2), (3-4) at Prescott Badgers (1-1), (3-3), Bill Shepherd Field, 7pm

No matter what is going on in either one of these teams season, this is the game. The game for local bragging rights for the entire year. Last weeks trips by both schools to Flagstaff proved costly. It was costly in the sense that both squads lost and put their chances at a playoff spot in jeopardy.

Bradshaw Mountain comes into this game after being shutout for the first time since September 7, 2012, a span of 73 games. Flagstaff blanked the Bears 20-0 in Flagstaff last week.

Prescott held a 20-7 lead at a Coconino, but a strong second half by the Panthers sent the Badgers home with a 34-27 loss.

Last year: Prescott 26, Bradshaw Mountain 21, at Prescott Valley

After the goose egg last week, the sky is the limit for the Bradshaw Mountain offense. The Flagstaff defense held QB Josh Grant to (2-9, 7 yards) through the air with one pic last week. Grant has the ability to make big plays with his legs, but had just 28 yards on the ground last week. Sharing duties on the ground is Titus King who led the ground attack last week with 78 yards, and Moises Hernandez with 46 yards.

Defensively, keep an eye out for tackling trio of Noah Shaver, Daniel Gobiel, and Michael Kelley.

Prescott saw all their hard work go down the drain in the second half of last weeks lost. Turnovers and penalties proved costly contributing to the outcome. Quarterback Dellin Boyd had the same amount of completions and interceptions, with three each. Sylas Espitia, Boyd, and Sam Giordan have a combined 911 yards and 15 TDs.

Trey Koehler (15-290, 3 TDs) and  Brayden Nelson (11-234, 2TDs), are the top two targets for Boyd.

Sam Giordan, Rhett Pearce, Nathan Wright, and Aaron Greene average a combined 36.5 tackles per game.

The Skinny: Prescott still has a chance to snatch a playoff spot, but there is no room for error.  Bradshaw Mountain would like nothing better than to put the Badgers season to rest. Look for a highly energized performance by both teams, along with rabid fan base from each respective schools student sections. Execution will be key, as to which team can execute their game plan most effectively. Bradshaw Mountain will need line support to give Josh Grant offensive opportunity. The Badgers must limit turnovers and penalties in order to win. The Bears will need Prescott errors for success.

Game time temps will be at 55*, with a slight breeze, dipping into the 40’s by games end. Bundle up!
