On January 10, 2013, 44-year-old Robbin Jaeger was arrested at her home following an investigation into the theft of cash designated for accounts assigned to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office. Jaeger, a 15-year employee, was assigned as an Account Clerk for the Sheriff’s Office during the last 9 years. Jaeger’s duties included accounting responsibilities to accept cash and fee based payments for various services on behalf of YCSO. Jaeger was expected to document the receipt of these monies and deposit them into the appropriate accounts.

Jaeger’s supervisor, aided by new accounting and finance software, discovered a deposit discrepancy in more than one account. The missing money was immediately brought to the attention of Command Staff for review.

The preliminary investigation, being conducted by the YCSO Criminal Investigations Bureau, indicates an estimated theft of $25,000 from various accounts. YCSO will be employing an outside forensic auditor to further examine financial documents.

Jaeger was terminated from employment with the Sheriff’s Office and booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including Falsify Written Instrument, Theft-Convert Entrusted Property, Fraudulent Schemes, and Make False Public Record.
