Theft from ADOT Yard Exceeds Several Thousand Dollars in Value

Light poles and guard rails were among the missing items

On the afternoon of July 15, 2013, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the ADOT storage yard in the 15000 block of Highway 69 near Cordes Junction. An ADOT supervisor told deputies an estimated $5000 worth of aluminum light poles and bridge guard rail had been stolen. The theft likely took place between 12 PM on July 12, 2013, and 1:30 PM on July 15, 2013. The contents of the yard are surrounded by a chain link fenced with a barbed wire top section. No obvious signs of forced entry were discovered, but the investigation is ongoing.

Details on the stolen items are as follows:


  • (4) Aluminum light poles, 40' foot long by 8" inches at base tapering off to 4" inch at the top. No light attached.
  • (12) 4" inch by 20' foot long aluminum round pipe bridge rails
