No injuries, but the home is described as, "uninhabitable".

Crews from the Chino Valley Fire District responded to a structure fire near the corner of Red Cinder and Road 1 East on Friday, September 20.

Fire Chief Scott Freitag was on scene, his first response to a structure fire since taking over as CVFD chief on August 13 of this year.

"No one was injured in the fire, the home is uninhabitable now," said Freitag. "The Police department did a great job, they were here before the fire department was, they communicated with the homeowner to determine that no one was still inside, and that's helpful to the firefighter coming in so that can get right to their job."

Freitag said a Life Line Ambulance crew also responded as a precautionary measure but no one required any medical treatment. Additionally, an APS representative was on site to ensure power to the home was properly disconnected.

Road 1 East was closed for a time during the incident, but was opened to through traffic within an hour.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and has yet to be determined.

"Our Fire Marshal Art Castricone is here just beginning his investigation, but so far it appears to be accidental," said Freitag.
