Hundreds Line Up for Free Medical, Dental & Vision

18 June 2015
Even before the doors were opened, over 100 people were ready.

Hundreds lined up early Wednesday morning around the Prescott Valley Event Center, waiting to participate in the Arizona Sonshine Free Health Clinic. One family was so anxious to receive the dental care that they arrived around 9 PM on Tuesday evening. Before the people were let in, granola bars were given out to those in line.

Although the event was as organized and efficient as possible, some procedures take time, which meant waiting in line. Sometimes long waits and long lines. But the mood wasn't overly grumpy, most appreciated what was being provided and that it was free of charge. A tuna salad sandwich on thick whole grain bread, with chips, cookies and bottled water was provided to those that needed to wait past noon.

During their dental care, patients sat in reclining patio chairs, while the dentists wore bright head lamps. But what was lacking in up-to-date modern equipment and technology, was more than compensated for with their kind courtesy and genuine concern for the patients' welfare.

The main sponsor of the Arizona Sonshine event was the Adventist Medical Evangelism Network, aka AMEN. On hand were chaplains that walked up and down the lines, greeting the people with big, friendly smiles, shaking hands and even offering a prayer with those who wanted to pray.
