Paulden Woman Arrested After Using Mobile App to Deposit Fraudulent Checks

In November of 2015, the Prescott Police Department began a fraud investigation after receiving a report that the bank account of a 95 year old Prescott woman had been compromised. The victim’s daughter reported that the victim was missing 3 checks from her check book and had learned from the bank that an unknown suspect had used a mobile app to deposit the checks in the amount of $6,000 into an account.

During the ensuing investigation, detectives determined that an in home care giver, 21 year old Jasmine Moore of Paulden, had removed the checks from the victims home and had forged them, then used her cell phone to electronically deposit the checks into her own account.

On March 23, 2016 detectives located Moore and placed her under arrest for the crime. She was booked into the Yavapai County Jail for charges of Forgery, Fraud Schemes, Theft and attempted Theft.

The Prescott Police Department would like to remind our community of the importance of securing valuables and identifying information at all times. Keep a close watch on your bank and credit card information so fraudulent activity can be detected early and interventions can be effective.
