A Tucson man is recovering from injuries he suffered in a climbing accident in Sedona.

The accident occurred at Oak Creek Vista off Highway 89A around 1:15 Monday afternoon.

Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Aaron Dick says due to the location of the patient and the nature of his injuries, Search and Rescue established a technical rope system to lower a rescuer and a basket litter to the 57 year old man. Dick explains it was hard to get to the victim due to the terrain.

Dick adds Search and Rescue used a technical rope system to get the man to safety. The litter attendant and the man were then raised to the top of the canyon and carried out to a waiting ambulance.

Highlands Fire and Guardian medical personnel had hiked to the location to provide initial treatment and help prepare the man to be raised by the rope system.  The man was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Cottonwood Police are working to determine if 2 women are involved in a rash of salon burglaries.

A good Samaritan saw the women use a large rock last week to break the window of a business on Main Street, enter and take items that included a couple of guitars.  Later in the Cottonwood Police investigation another business was found to be burglarized.  The women entered the salon through a broken window and surveillance video captured the suspects entering and then leaving with property.   An officer located and arrested 19 year old Melody Murphy and 21 year old Jessica Wallen. Items taken from the businesses were found in their possession.  Police say they’ve been seeing salon burglaries lately.  Detectives have tied Murphy into some of them.  The investigation is continuing into the unsolved burglaries.  The suspects are facing counts of burglary and criminal damage.  Murphy is facing additional charges of trafficking in stolen property.
