Roughriders Well Represented at ACCAC and NJCAA Awards

The Roughrider ladies host the NJCAA Region I Tournament on Friday and Saturday.


The ACCAC/NJCAA Region I softball awards were announced Monday and the Roughriders were well represented. Seven team members garnered the post-season awards.

Sophomore Jaydee Boursaw, freshmen Jaya Allen, Brianna Griffiths and Makayla Guerra each were named to the First Team All-ACCAC and First Team NJCAA All-Region I. Sophomore Santana Parra and freshman Makea Kaluau and Neenah Pangilinan were named to the All ACCAC Third Team.

YC hosts the NJCAA Region I tournament on Friday, May 4th and Saturday, May 5th. Yavapai opens up tourney play against Central Arizona College on Friday at 11:00 AM at Bill Vallely Field.


Post-season accolades roll in for the Roughrider baseball team. For their efforts, Over Torres, Alex Isola, Tommy Sacco and Carlos Viera were named to the All-ACCAC /All-Region I teams.

Torres garnered First Team honors on both teams and Viera, Isola and Sacco earned Second Team awards.

- Torres hit .361 on the year with 7 home runs and 44 runs batted in.

- Viera had a .307 batting average with 7 home runs and 53 RBI’s which led the team.

- Isola led the team in batting average (.367) and 8 home runs (8).

- Sacco hit .312 with 6 home run knocks and 37 RBI’s.

Yavapai concluded the 2018 season with a 28-27 overall record and a 17-19 ACCAC mark.
