Derrick Jones Jr. Coming Back to NAZ Suns for 5th Assignment

PRESCOTT VALLEY – The Phoenix Suns announced Saturday that they have re-assigned Derrick Jones Jr. to the Northern Arizona Suns.

This marks Jones’ fifth assignment of the season and 11th of his career.

The 6-foot 7-inch forward was recalled on Wednesday after achieving his second double-double of the season in the NBA G League with 23 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks against the Austin Spurs on Nov. 21.

Jones played six minutes for Phoenix in their game against the New Orleans Pelicans last night, tallying two points and one rebound. He is now averaging 1.5 points and 0.7 rebounds in 5.5 minutes per game in six contests for the Phoenix Suns on the year.

For the Northern Arizona Suns this season, Jones is averaging 14.3 points on 45.2 percent shooting, 8.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 32.1 minutes per game in six contests. Both of his double-doubles were also 20+ point games for the Suns forward.

Northern Arizona will begin a four-game road trip tomorrow (Sunday) at 3 p.m. MST against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
