The Northern Arizona Suns are still un-beaten so far this season after picking up a road-home two game series sweep against the Salt Lake City Stars on Friday and Saturday, pushing their record to 3-0 on the young season. Suns travel to Los Angeles for a game against the Defenders at 8:30 pm on Wednesday before returning home for a matchup against the Reno Bighorns Friday at 7pm.  

Winter sports are starting this week for local high schools. The Badgers wrestling team held their annual blue and gold scrimmage over the weekend in preparation for the Yavapai County Duels next Saturday at Embry Riddle which also features Bradshaw Mountain and Chino Valley. The Bradshaw Bears Women’s Basketball team tips-off their season in Phoenix today at 3:30 against Pinnacle. The Wrestling team begins on Tuesday at Centennial High School in Peoria against five other high schools. 
Embry Riddle Men’s Basketball beat the NCAA Division Two Western New Mexico Mustangs on Wednesday before dropping two straight in Colorado over the weekend against Fort Lewis College and the Adams State University Skyhawks. Meanwhile, the Women’s basketball team dropped a game on Friday to The Masters College 68-53.
In state sports, The Arizona Cardinals road the playoffs is getting slimmer and slimmer after each passing Sunday. The Cardinals lost their game against the Vikings in Minnesota 30-24 dropping the team to 4-5-1 with six left to play. Arizona holds the second place spot in the NFC West falling significantly behind the division leading Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals try to right the ship in Atlanta next week against the Falcons. Kickoff is 11:00 AM Arizona time on Sunday. 
The Phoenix Suns continued their six game road swing on Saturday losing to the Philadelphia 76ers 120-105. The loss drops them to 4-10 overall as the team sits in last place of the pacific division and 13th overall in the conference. Suns are back on the court tonight against the Wizards. Tip-off is 5pm. 
The Arizona Coyotes were able to pick up the win against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday in overtime 3-2 which broke a four game losing streak. Coyotes sit at 6-9-2 on the young year and a last place spot in the pacific division. 
Earlier last week, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have added long-time manager Ron Gardenhire to their coaching staff as a bench coach to go along with new manager Torey Lovullo for the upcoming season. Gardenhire was the manager of the Minnesota Twins from 2002-2014 where he won 1,068 games with a .507 winning percentage including a 2010 American League Manager of the Year Award. 
The Diamondbacks severely underperformed in 2016 losing 93 games after a flurry of offseason moves. The disappointing season led to the firing of manager Chip Hale, GM Dave Stewart and the demotion of Tony La Russa.
